Andre de Caires is a Grenadian-born individual who grew up in Trinidad from the age of 3. He attended the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, where he obtained an Associate Diploma in Horticulture in 1983.
In 1987, he moved to Saint Lucia and was hired by the government to manage agricultural diversification. In 1997, he co-founded the Industrial Hemp Initiative. He is the author of The Ganja Document (available on Google). From 2010 to 2020, he served as the chair of the Cannabis Movement and has been the leader of the Green Party since 2010.
Andre entered politics out of frustration with the trade-off between economic progress and ecological decline.
