Anil Roberts secured his initial election to the House of Representatives on May 24, 2010, representing the constituency of D’Abadie/O’Meara in Trinidad and Tobago. Shortly thereafter, on May 29, 2010, he assumed the role of Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs. His political journey continued in 2020 when he took the position of Opposition Senator during the 12th Republican Parliament.
Beyond his political endeavours, Anil Roberts is renowned as the coach of Olympic Bronze Medalist George Bovell III. He is recognised for hosting the widely popular national television sports program Spalk. Additionally, he has left a mark as the host of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most widely listened-to radio talk shows.
