A New Chapter

Welcome to the Network

The Global Indian Network is pleased to welcome Equity Bank Uganda Limited as a Corporate Member — a partnership that connects one of East Africa's most consequential financial institutions with a global community of founders, investors, policymakers, and business leaders.

This is more than a membership. It is a bridge between Uganda's fastest-growing banking network and a diaspora ecosystem spanning 49+ countries — built to unlock trade corridors, investment flows, and the kind of long-term relationships that turn ambition into enterprise.

For the Global Indian community with interests across East Africa, Equity Bank Uganda represents something rare: a bank with genuine national reach, deep community roots, and an explicitly stated purpose of expanding opportunity rather than simply extending credit.

Who They Are

Banking, Reimagined for Uganda

Equity Bank Uganda Limited is one of the fastest growing banks in the country, operating a network of 50 branches and more than 50 ATMs across Uganda — with 25 branches concentrated in Central and greater Kampala.

The bank serves over 2,000,000 customers, supported by a deliberately layered distribution model: internet banking, the Eazzy 247 mobile platform, more than 2,400 point-of-sale terminals, an agent network of over 8,000 Equity Duuka outlets, and partnerships with Uganda's major telecom operators.

Since launching in Uganda in 2008, the bank has grown its net loan book to UGX 1,474 billion — a scale that places it among the country's most significant lenders to households, small enterprises, and corporates alike.

The Opportunity

Why This Partnership Matters

Uganda sits at the centre of East Africa's commercial geography, and the Indian diaspora has been part of its business fabric for generations — in manufacturing, agro-processing, trade, real estate, and increasingly in technology and financial services.

What has often been missing is a reliable bridge: a banking partner with national reach, regional understanding, and the institutional depth to support cross-border ambition rather than merely process it.

Equity Bank Uganda's membership of the Global Indian Network creates exactly that. For GIN members exploring East African markets, it opens a channel to a bank that already understands the terrain. For Equity, it connects the institution to a global community of decision-makers with capital, expertise, and appetite.

Growing together in trust — a motto that describes not only how Equity banks, but how the strongest cross-border partnerships are actually built.
